NOTE: Class participants receive 10% discount on fabric purchases from BORDERS for our classes. Fabrics must be purchased, prewashed and ironed if necessary prior to class time if you plan on starting your project during class. Contact BORDERS prior to class date for your Materials List. Sewing machine is required, unless otherwise stated, if you plan on working on your project during class. We do have a couple of machines available for use on a first come first serve basis.
BEGINNER SAMPLER QUILT
Cost: $100 + Supplies (Patterns Provided)
Learn to quilt from the beginning to end while creating this beautiful sampler quilt. Instructions for strip piecing, to appliqué, working with triangles to curved seam piecing. One to Four different block patterns given each week for up to 10 weeks.

APPLIQUE "HOW TO"

Learn how to do appliqué several different ways. Because throughout the years, the Rose of Sharon quilt patterns have been the most popular for bridal quilts due to their beauty and to their symbolism for romantic love, you will do a block from Rosemary Makhan’s book Rose Sampler Supreme in your choice of colors. There are many ways to do applique’ as there are subjects, so come learn with us and find out which method you prefer.
FOLK ART MELODY

The Folk Art Melody quilt is a “Celebration in Wool Applique’.” Clear, easy-to-follow instructions. Hand-dyed and Wool Creation wools used. Useful tips on how to work with wool successfully. Each of the 9 original applique’ blocks measure 10” x 10”. No sewing machine required.

Her original fabrics, innovative techniques, and clear instructions make creating her quilts beautifully simple. And the results? Simply beautiful! Join us in creating one of her designs with many of the batik’s she uses and discover the heart and art of McKenna Ryan. Many of the individual blocks like those shown can be made on their own, or in addition to other blocks in each series to create a larger quilt. Choose your pattern in advance. Patterns cost around $10 each. Some a little less, some a little more. BORDERS will put a fabric kit together for each pattern purchased (with your guidance if preferred). PAPER FOUNDATION PIECING

Paper foundation piecing has become quite popular. It’s a great method for getting accurately pieced blocks. It is especially good method for piecing miniature quilts. Learn this technique while creating this adorable Mini-Tulip Quilt.
RINGS THAT BIND

Rings That Bind offers a new process in quilt construction. Simple strips sewn into strip sets provide a canvas for cutting arcs that are sewn into rings. Learn this fascinating technique as seen on HGTV’s Simply Quilts by making a small version (only four rings) of the larger quilt to be used as a wall hanging or table topper. Quilting and scalloped edges are added to each block individually before the blocks are assembled. When the blocks are sewn together and topstitches, your quilt is finished! And incredibly beautiful.

You can make a scrapbook quilt easily with photo transfer paper and a color copier. For weddings, anniversaries, retirements, reunions … Learn how to create your Memory Quilt with photo’s, autographs, notes. The possibilities are endless.
HOLLY & BERRY JACKET
Cost: $25 + Materials (Book provided)
Make yourself or a friend, mom, daughter or granddaughter (get the picture?) this wonderful holiday jacket from a sweatshirt. Child sizes available. Kit’s available at BORDERS. Or pick up the materials list and make your own kit. The jackets are created with a quality sweatshirt, fine quilting fabrics, DMC thread, needle, country buttons and a little hand stitchin’!. Patterns can also be applied to denim shirts, table runners, towels, placemats, jumpers, and t-shirts should you choose. You are only limited by your imagination. We’ll have other country patterns available should you want to apply something other than Holly and Berries. No sewing machine required.
CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY STOCKINGS
